Auburn Home

About

We were blessed to be living in such a beautiful home in a great neighborhood on a small lake surrounded by friends. Boating to our neighbors for a night time fire and friends will never be forgotten.

What I learned

  • As a Yankee, we learned quite a bit about southern living and culture
  • Managing a private lake is not cheap or easy – run off, silt management, fish management, dam management, flooding, drought.
  • Working with the city and state for water management.
  • Surrounding construction, despite being miles away, still has an impact (roads, impermeable surfaces, houses, storm water, mud and muck, lawn fertilizer, etc)
  • Stocking Catfish
  • Running a fishing derby and fishfry
  • we had several types of snakes around but mostly corn snakes which are helpful
  • Surrounded by current and retired Auburn university professors, we learned quite about about the school and football games just down the road at Jordan Hare stadium
