Downtown
We tried to spend some extra time together downtown, with nothing planned. Just hang out on a nice day, walk around and check things out for the evening.
We ran into a shady character while walking around the streets. He caught me taking a picture of the alley and came over to confront us. He passed out some knuckle bumps.
Horseback Riding
We did some horseback riding as a family one evening. The weather was perfect and the horses were so well behaved. We did about an hour through the woods and back.
I told the kids on the way up we could only afford one horse, so I got the biggest one so we can all ride at the same time. They didn’t like that idea. Luckily, this place is super affordable and we all got to ride. We had a ton of fun and it was really relaxing for everyone.
Dollywood
Dollywood for the first time as a family. We normally do Kings Island on our fall break, but this year we didn’t travel to Ohio or PA, or get the dogs boarded, so we just stayed locally and made the best of it.
Austin and I split off after a couple rides and food as a whole family. We had a lot of fun riding together.
Josslyns Belated Birthday
We did the normal birthday thing with cake and ice cream and gifts at home, but she really wanted to have a day out without the family. I took her up to Pigeon Forge with a friend and just let them go wild for a few hours. It was exhausting, but they had a blast: Mountain roller coaster, feeding goats, laser tag, dinner, ice cream, and a mirror maze.
Random
Austin won a cake at the school fall festival. He was pumped. We celebrated fall, but we chose not to participate in Halloween and specifically the darker imagery that can be associated with the holiday. We still had fun going out to eat and seeing “Wild Robot” in the theaters – that was a great family movie.
